Mickey is going to a sleep over.  That means Noah has full run of the house this evening and is excited.  What I think he likes about being alone is that he will have a chocolate fudge cake all to himself!

Morning time at the Porch house

Mickey didn’t want her photo taken so early in the morning!

Finishing touches on her hair!

A view out my dining room window.  Our fields do not need any more rain.

View from living room window.  Dreary day.  Rain rain go away.

Noah Bear eating his oatmeal.  He sure loves it.

Front view of home taken yesterday.

I’m sure the mother bird won’t care for the eggs now.  Noah wants to.  He even looked up how often and what to feed the little birds if they hatch.

I baked this Strawberry Yogurt Cake Sunday for the kids and they want it again.  I’ll be baking today!

Our Snickerdoodles.  Trisha Yearwood’s family recipe.  Delicious.  If you would like the recipe, please comment and I will share.

My inaugural post

Since my back surgery a few weeks ago, I have been bored.  The Dr. has me on severe restrictions.  You know, no bending, no lifting and no twisting.

I was sick of lying on the couch and decided to cook and bake.  That lead me to post the recipes I used on Facebook. As you know, it’s rather hard to go through the timeline and find favorite recipes and it’s hard for friends to remember when I posted the recipe they wanted but just didn’t happen to copy down.  I thought that a blog would be fun and also easy to catalog recipes for my friends.

On top of cooking and baking, I love to write.  This love of mine may not show through my writing but I do enjoy it.  Therefore, to take some of the boredom out of my summer, I decided to blog about some of my favorite things and favorite things to do.  Oh, did I mention I have two more surgeries to go through this summer?  Yes, I do so I will be bored all summer long if I don’t cook, bake and blog!  So, the focus on my blog will be my grandchildren, my dogs, recipes I have tried and that I will rate, cooking with photos and showing you the steps as well as baking.  If I’m able to do any gardening, I will also take photos and create posts for you.

The reason the title of my blog is “Porch Family” is because I didn’t want to write about just one topic.  I want to be able to write about everything my two grandchildren and I love to do, the funny things that take place and to write about our dogs.

The Porch Family blog is finally put together.  Now, as we go along, I’m sure we will be tweaking it a bit.  As for now, we are just trying to get a feel for it!  I also saw various themes that I liked so don’t be surprised to come to this blog and see a different theme every now and again!  I do like change, a lot!

I hope you enjoy this blog and can take good recipes and tips with you.  Feel free to sign up via email and to follow on Facebook.
